Serkan Kaya was born in Malatya in 1978. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and high school in Mersin. He was accepted to Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1996 and graduated from the same faculty in 2000. He started his career as a lawyer in a private law firm in Istanbul. He completed his English education in London in 2005-2006 and completed his master's degree in International Trade Law at London Thames College in 2007-2009.
He has been a freelance lawyer since 2011 and as of 2014, he has been providing legal consultancy services to Baykar Technology and its group companies, Cansağlığı Foundation, T3 Foundation and Culture and Civilization Foundation.
He is married and has one child.
